Questions for Breeders

Here are some questions you should ask the breeder before purchasing that special little puppy:

  • How long has the breeder been breeding this breed?
  • What made them choose this breed?
  • What made them decide to start breeding this breed?
  • Is the Sire and Dam at the breeder's house?
  • Can you meet the puppy's parents?
  • Are the puppy's raised inside the house or in a kennel?
  • How does the breeder socialize their pups?
  • What age does the breeder let the puppy go to its new home?
  • Is the puppy AKC?
  • What health guarantees does the breeder give?
  • Does the breeder give you time to take the puppy to your veterinarian to be examined?
  • If the puppy has serious health problems will you be able to return the puppy within a certain amount of time?

The breeder should also be asking you questions too. These puppies should be the breeder's four legged babies. If the breeder doesn't care or if they don't answer your questions then I would find another breeder.
